Mission Estate Winery

Heritage
The oldest winery in New Zealand, Mission Estate was established in 1851 by French Marist missionaries who sailed to New Zealand with little more than their faith and a few wines – and we have been leading the way ever since. Mission Estate was amongst the first producers of Pinot Gris and Pinot Noir in New Zealand. Mission estate led the way in hiring New Zealand’s first qualified Winemaker and was the first to Barrel ferment Chardonnay in 1983. It is this pioneering spirit that has established Mission Estate as a New Zealand icon. La Grande Maison, the Mission House, is a major tourist destination and the wines are favoutites of wine enthusiasts the world over.
